Vegas Alien Final

For my final I decided to create an alien the crash landed in a Las Vegas show! After I did some research on Vegas Showgirls, I picked a driving piece of art for my final then I created my own artwork that shows my color palette for the makeup design. Here is the original art and my own art for my inspiration!

Then, I put a picture of my art work into a color generator and I got a color palette to use for my makeup!

Next was to create the 3-D pieces for my makeup look. I had to create a wound for my cheek. Again I did this like the wound section of class by painting layers of latex around pieces of cotton. I made two just to be sure.

Then I had to make my sequin eyebrows. I did this by painted a layer of latex to make the shape of the eyebrow over my headshot, but then I glued individual red and purple sequins to the shape with more latex to create two eyebrows that can stick to my face. They worked pretty well in the test run of my final.

Next, I had to find a way to get the feathers to stick to my head. I painted a little piece of latex that I can stick the end of the feather into, so here's what that looked like!

It's hard to see in the top picture, but I painted a piece of latex for the base and then I pressed the feather into the latex base. To finish this off, I painted latex base of all of these with pink acrylic paint so that it would match my skin tone for the final look.

The last step before applying the makeup was to make a glittery blood for my wound. Originally, I just put in a really fine glitter into the blood, but it made it to dry and clumpy. To fix this, I put less fine glitter into the mixture and instead I put in corn syrup and chopped up pieces of a red sequin into the mixture to make it a nice consistency. Here's some pictures of the process of making the blood.

Just to be sure for my project run through, I tested putting on the pink skin tone. At first I tried mixing Ben Nye white with the wet blood color and it just turned out to be too salmon.

Then I decided to just paint white and then to do the watercolor red on top to make a pink color and this worked much better.

Now it's time for run through day! The first step was painting my face white, which I didn't do dark enough so I had to add another layer.

Then after I did this, I realized that I needed to glue down my eyebrows first, so the makeup wipes came out and I began to fix this problem!

Then I brushed them out, glued them down, and covered them up!

Then I went back to painting my face pink!

Then I had to take off the makeup where I wanted to add the wound, my feathers, and eyebrows. I began to do this and as I painted spirit gum onto my latex pieces I began to apply them to my face.

As the spirit gum was drying I kept moving forward with my makeup by painting on my red lip and drawing in my purple contour.

Then I began to do this same process with my feathers and while the spirit gum would dry I painted in my purple eyeshadow and a long black wing of eyeliner.

I then added the rest of the feathers, touched up my foundation, and put on my fake eyelashes to make the look even better.

Finally Sue said to define my lip a little more I should line it with a dark pencil. I did that and then my look was finally done and I was a fabulous alien performing at a show in Las Vegas!!
