Color Theory- Shade and Tint

Shade and Tint

I started off the black and white side by starting with the lightest color: white. Then I mixed a little bit of black paint bit by bit, so that each square was a little darker shade than the one before it.

Here's two different angles of the first half of my shades of grey.

Here is a look at the colors I mixed on my palette and some of the different shades of grey.

Then I kept making the grey darker and darker until I was at the top square which was pure black. Here is my finished black and white shade and tint spectrum.

For the blue side, I did black first since I just painted the black on the other spectrum. Then I cleaned my brush and painted pure blue in the middle and white on the opposite end.

Then I repeated this whole process with adding blue to white and black to the blue for the darker side of the spectrum.

Heres a look at my shades of blue for the lighter side of the project.

Finally by adding black to the blue paint, I finished the darker half of the spectrum. This taught me that a small amount of dark paint goes a long way especially when mixing colors. Here's a look at the final product. I think it turned out really nicely and that the colors look really cool!
